Assemble Your Team: 3 People All Solopreneurs Need In Their Life

Life as a solopreneur is wonderful. You are the boss, the one who is in charge of every decision, and you can rely on your own business instinct and nous to ensure that you do the best job possible. There’s no denying that this life is an attractive one, which is why so many businesswomen are choosing to strike out on their own.

However, no woman is an island (to paraphrase a well-known quote), and all solopreneurs have to understand that they do need some people involved in their business. These are not employees, but they are people that will help your business to run as smoothly as possible, and ultimately allow you to be the kind of solopreneur you are destined to be.

So, it’s time to assemble your team.

You need… a confidante

Life a solopreneur is wonderful, but that independence that you so treasure can sometimes be as problematic as it is beneficial. Sometimes, you will just need someone to bounce ideas off, or listen to you vent about how irritating one of your clients is.

You therefore need someone in your life who can meet the role of confidante; who isn’t going to judge you, and will just let you talk about your business when you need to. This person might be an existing friend that you already have in your life, or it might be a new business mentor that you seek out. Either way, they’re an essential part of your life as a solopreneur.

You need… an accountant

Unless your business is accountancy, you’re going to need an accountant. Businesses can fall because of errors made on tax returns and company finances, so it’s far safer to outsource these tasks to a certified public accountant to ensure you’ve always got your business bases covered.

Many solopreneurs worry about the cost of hiring an accountant, but it’s worth asking yourself what the potential cost of not doing so is. If you make a mistake with your tax filings, you could be liable for criminal and financial penalties– if you’re serious about your business, that’s a risk that you just can’t take.

You need… an IT tech

Every solopreneur will, at some point, find themselves settling down to a day at work and finding that their computer isn’t functioning or their iPad isn’t responding. If you were employed, these are issues that you would just hand over to the IT department– but, of course, you don’t have an IT department.

You are, however, able to build a relationship with a local IT support tech, who you can use as your go-to the moment you have issues with your equipment. Building this relationship can alleviate a lot of stress, and ensure that if something goes wrong, your reliable IT tech will have you back up and running in no time.

To conclude

Even solopreneurs need help every now and then, so build your team and you can enjoy all the benefits of this style of business, without having to cope with any of the drawbacks!
