4 Signs Work Is Burning You Out

Reducing Downtime

Whether you’re running your own business or working your way up the career ladder, everyone needs a break now and then. Women have a habit of becoming so determined to reach a goal that they forget to think about themselves and what they need. If you reach a point where you’re completely burnt out, your career or business could take a hit. You’ll be forced to take some down time and it may come at the least convenient time. So, before you reach that point, look out for these signs and take a break!

Small Mistakes

When you’re coming to your wits end, you may notice that you’re making more mistakes than usual. You could be overly fatigued, distracted or just bored with your work. If you’re making small mistakes here and there regularly, it could be your brain telling you it doesn’t want to work anymore. There’s only so much we can put our bodies through before they start to shut down on us. When your boss starts calling you out on your mistakes, it’s time to book some well-deserved time off before those little mistakes start to turn into big ones.

Your To-Do List

If you have a to-do list that’s longer than your arm and you feel like breaking down every time you look at it, it may be time to have a break. It won’t be the end of the world if you leave that to-do list for a little while longer and go relax on a hot beach, with a cool drink or find some peace at ResortsandLodges.com. Tackling a to-do list like that will take energy that you just don’t have, and you may end up creating more problems for yourself. Feeling overwhelmed by your work won’t do you or your health any good.

You’re Tired and Irritable

If you’d kill just to spend another few hours in bed instead of having to traipse into work, it’s a sure sign a break should be on the horizon. Fatigue does not pair well with work and you could find yourself destroying working relationships if you’re short with your colleagues or get angry at them for making simple mistakes. Another classic sign of needing a break is insomnia. Even if you’re exhausted going to bed at night, you may not be able to sleep because you’re running through everything you need to do at work. It’s time to take a step back and clear your head of the tasks that are playing on your mind.

Loss of Focus

If you’re up against a deadline at work, you can’t afford to lose your focus. However, when you do lose focus you become so frustrated at the inability to concentrate that completing your tasks becomes impossible. If you’re unable to focus on your work, it may be because your body is telling you it needs a break from focusing. Sometimes, our minds just need to be free to roam.

Work isn’t the be all and end all of life. Make sure you have some fun too!
