Downsizing Your Office Space

It’s pretty tough being in business right now. Costs are high and so is competition, which means that more and more companies are being forced to make big savings in order to stay in business.

One of the easiest areas for a lot of businesses to save money is in the office space department. Downsizing your office is a sure-fire way to cut your costs and keep yourself in business. If you’re thinking of downsizing, here are some of the most affordable options available to you:

Move to an Out-of-Town Office

If downsizing to a smaller office isn’t possible, one thing you could do to save a whole lot of money is to move your operation to an out-of-town office. This might not be possible if you rely on passing trade, but if attracting the attention of passers-by isn’t critical to your business, you could save thousands by moving to a less prime location. This might sound like a lot of effort, but if you have good office removalists to help you, it shouldn’t be too taxing. Anyway, the small amount of upheaval is worth it if it keeps your company’s cash flowing!

Work from Home

If yours is the kind of business where it’s possible, having your employees work remotely from home is a great way to cut your costs. Not only will you not have to pay for office space, but you’ll also save on the costs of heating and lighting office space, which as I’m sure you know, can be quite expensive, too.

Meeting rooms

If you can allow your employees to work remotely, but you occasionally need to see clients and do business in a professional setting, hiring space in meeting rooms, which you can do by the hour, will help to ensure that you have a professional space in which to do so.

Virtual Offices

You may also want to look into a virtual office, which will give you a professional address which can be used on all of your correspondence. Working from home is fine, but having a private home address on your company materials isn’t always a good idea, and it can devalue your business in some people’s eyes, but this is a good solution.

Rent Storage Space

When you downsize your office space, it might be difficult to find a place for all of that paperwork and those tools that you don’t need on a day to day basis, but which you do need sometimes. If that’s the case, you might do well to hire your own storage unit, which will be much cheaper than renting a large office space, while ensuring that you can safely store all of the things you need to run a successful operation.

Use The Cloud

Another thing that will help you in your efforts to downsize is switching to the cloud. Using the cloud to store important data will mean that you need much less space to run your operations, which means you won’t need to pay nearly as much money for professional space as you might otherwise.
