Healthy Snacks Every Manager Should Offer as an Alternative at Meetings

Laptop Coffee

If you run a busy office, you might be concerned about the health and wellbeing of your employees. You can only do so much when it comes to their lifestyle outside of the office, but you can help them take on healthy habits while in the office. Looking after the health of your workers will pay off long term. It results in improved employee commitment, lower absenteeism, and better productivity. Below you will find a few tips on how to encourage your workers to eat healthier

Setting Up a Salad Bar

If your office has a kitchenette with a fridge that your workers can use, you might want to supply them with unlimited salad all day. You might either ask one employee each day to prepare it for the team to snack on, or buy it at the local deli shop. Check and display the calorie content of each food, so your employees can make an informed decision. Keeping a fruit bowl handy in the office can prevent people from catching a cold and being off for long weeks, too.

Something for the Sweet Toothed

Sometimes people simply want a sugar fix, and they often walk to the vending machine to get a bar of chocolate. Talk to your office supply company to install machines that give out roasted nuts without the flavoring and coloring, or dried fruit.

Organic Coffee

While instant coffee is the regular option for office workers, it hardly gives them the satisfaction that a high quality drink at the local cafe does. You can buy organic roast coffee and get your own professional coffee machine installed. This will help them get a boost when they need it, and enjoy their short breaks even more. Organic coffee has several health benefits, as it is full of antioxidants.

Purified Water On the Tap

If there is something your employees usually need is hydration while in the office. If you have the HVAC system running, the air can be dry. For those always on the phone, having a drink is essential. You can encourage your employees to opt for water instead of popular sugar-filled drinks that are available from the machine or the shop. Encourage them to drink purified water either from the tap, or get a water filter jug and keep it refilled in the fridge.

Sweeteners and Stevia Options

Some of your employees would simply use sugar in the canteen or the kitchenette because no other options are available. Talk to your workers about what they want in the office, and provide them with alternative, healthier options. Improve your employees’ health by giving them a choice and leading by example.

Whether you are concerned about the high absenteeism at your workplace, or would like to help your workers achieve their full potential and live a healthier life, there are some small changes you can make that will go a long way.
